Job Description
Solutions Architect delivering complex Azure, networking, security and backup solutions for Babble, a cloud-based technology solutions provider. Producing designs, deploying environments and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead hands-on implementation of complex, high-risk and multi-domain customer projects
- Build, configure and deploy Microsoft Azure environments, landing zones, management groups, subscriptions, Azure Policy, RBAC and cost governance
- Implement Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, Azure Firewall, NSGs, VPN Gateway, Private Endpoints and Azure DNS
- Deploy identity and access solutions using Microsoft Entra ID, Entra Connect, Cloud Sync, Conditional Access and Privileged Identity Management
- Deliver Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 deployments, including host pools, image management, FSLogix, scaling and security baselines
- Plan and execute server, workload and data migrations to Azure using Azure Migrate
- Implement Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery, including recovery testing against agreed RTO and RPO
- Configure security and monitoring across Azure and Microsoft 365 using Defender for Cloud, Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
- Automate deployments using PowerShell, Azure CLI and Infrastructure as Code with Bicep, ARM and/or Terraform
- Deploy and configure Microsoft 365, Intune, Sophos, Mimecast and Acronis solutions
- Act as final technical escalation point, diagnosing and resolving complex configuration, integration and environment issues
- Produce High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs and Statements of Work
- Provide design assurance, technical guidance and design reviews throughout delivery
- Support pre-sales scoping, solution qualification, technical feasibility assessments and proposal design input
- Conduct customer technical design reviews and secure solution architecture sign-off
- Define technical standards, deployment checklists, configuration baselines and design templates
- Validate UAT results and technical acceptance against approved designs and Statements of Work
- Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 engineers and support their career progression
- Collaborate with Support Desk, NOC, Product Managers and Solution Leads on operational supportability
- Identify and communicate risks, design constraints and technical dependencies
- Lead post-implementation design reviews and incorporate lessons learned into standards
- Maintain expert technical skills and vendor certifications across the Babble solution portfolio
Requirements:
- Extensive experience of solution design and delivery across Modern Workplace, Cyber Security, Backup/DR, Networking and Azure
- Demonstrable authorship of High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs and Statements of Work
- Pre-sales technical experience
- Track record of mentoring and raising the technical capability of a delivery team
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or current successor certification — desired
- Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100), or current successor certification — desired
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102), or current successor certification — desired
- Sophos Certified Architect certifications for Sophos Firewall and Sophos Central Endpoint/Server, with corresponding Sophos Certified Engineer prerequisites — desired
- Acronis Certified Engineer (Cyber Protect) — desired
- Mimecast Certified Product Professional, Advanced level — desired
- PRINCE2 7th Edition Practitioner or equivalent project management certification — advantageous
- ITIL 4 Foundation or ITIL Version 5 Foundation — advantageous
- CISSP or equivalent senior security certification; CompTIA Security+ is an acceptable foundational alternative — advantageous
- CrowdStrike Falcon certifications such as CCFA or CCFR and familiarity with Falcon Complete — advantageous
- Suitable home working setup with desk and chair in a quiet space
- Stable internet connection
- A solution to mitigate loadshedding; working from a public space is not acceptable
