Job Description

Part-time field technician supporting environmental emergency and hazardous-materials response for Onterris, a global environmental solutions company. Performing air monitoring, sampling, documentation, and site-safety work nationwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Support emergency response, environmental response, disaster recovery, industrial hygiene, toxicology, risk assessment, and infectious disease response projects
  • Maintain immediate availability for emergency response and extended travel, typically up to 30 days at a time
  • Manage high workloads and multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, overnight shifts, and rare 24-hour shifts
  • Independently operate monitoring instruments and record measurements
  • Prepare chain-of-custody documentation for environmental samples
  • Drive non-commercial vehicles to and from project sites
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Support air monitoring, environmental sampling, moisture mapping, and site safety activities
  • Accurately document work using in-house technology
  • Contribute to other projects or operational areas as business needs evolve

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Functional or higher computer literacy in a Windows-based environment required
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Immediate availability for emergency response and extended travel, typically up to 30 days
  • Ability to manage high workloads and multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, overnight shifts, and rare 24-hour shifts
  • Ability to independently operate monitoring instruments and record measurements
  • Ability to prepare chain-of-custody documentation for environmental samples
  • Ability to drive non-commercial vehicles
  • Experience in any branch of the armed forces desirable
  • Experience and/or proficiency with industrial hygiene equipment desirable
  • Experience using air and environmental sampling equipment desirable
  • Relevant experience in emergency response, environmental response, construction management, or related areas desirable
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day and overhead lift over 20 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb ladders, and wear physically demanding PPE
  • Ability to wear APR, SCBA, and hose-supplied respirators with required medical clearance under 29 CFR 1910.134
  • Ability to dress in PPE for HAZWOPER site entry under 29 CFR 1910.120
  • Ability to work outdoors, in extreme weather, hazardous environments, at altitudes above 5,000 feet, and on waterways, sea, or air
