Job Description

Staff Software Engineer building JLL’s internal AI platform and model gateway. Enabling AI agents and products across a global real estate and investment management company.

Responsibilities:

  • Own significant parts of the AI platform end to end, from API shape through behavior under load
  • Ensure reliability and performance in production for the AI gateway
  • Design provider abstraction, model routing, failover, and configuration-based provider switching
  • Make the agent surface framework- and deployment-location agnostic
  • Build evaluation and benchmarking capabilities largely from scratch
  • Design enforceable guardrails for safe production deployment of agents
  • Own inference cost and latency, including spend attribution and routing decisions
  • Keep model onboarding routine as the model landscape changes
  • Make the compliant path the fast path for architecture, security, and responsible-AI review
  • Solve difficult integration problems for other engineering teams
  • Improve observability ahead of scale
  • Mentor across a distributed team and produce durable designs and documentation
  • Set technical direction and choose platform abstractions and scope

Requirements:

  • 8+ years building and operating production systems
  • Direct experience shipping agentic systems to production, including agentic patterns, retrieval, tool calling, inference cost and latency
  • Hands-on experience with more than one model provider, including dealing with provider differences in practice
  • Experience with evaluation, observability or guardrail tooling for agentic systems
  • Strong platform engineering track record on systems where other engineering teams were users
  • Hands-on depth in at least one major public cloud, including running and debugging production workloads
  • Experience designing APIs and abstractions that others build against and that must remain stable
  • Demonstrable production ownership: on-call, incident response, and root cause analysis
  • Track record of pushing work through a large organisation, navigating process and unblocking decisions
  • Excellent English communication, written and spoken
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Preferred: internal developer platform or shared multi-tenant service experience
  • Preferred: Kubernetes and container-based delivery
  • Preferred: infrastructure as code
  • Preferred: enterprise security, data privacy or responsible-AI review processes

Benefits:

  • 401(k) plan with matching company contributions
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental & Vision Care
  • Paid parental leave at 100% of salary
  • Paid Time Off and Company Holidays
  • Early access to earned wages through Daily Pay
