Job Description
Test Automation Engineer building UI, API, and integration testing frameworks for GDIT. Improving software quality for U.S. government, defense, and intelligence missions.
Responsibilities:
- Define automation test strategy and plans for products, systems, components, and major modifications
- Design, implement, and maintain UI, API, and integration test automation frameworks and suites
- Create, document, execute, and analyze complex test scenarios, including edge cases and failure-mode coverage
- Communicate test results to stakeholders
- Participate in final system integration and validation activities
- Identify functional, performance, and reliability issues
- Establish and maintain quality control standards, reliability and regression programs, test data management, and traceability
- Ensure testing complies with applicable security, accessibility, performance, and SDLC standards
- Identify systemic issues in test coverage, tooling, environments, or processes and implement measurable improvements
- Provide feedback and recommendations for product and design changes based on test outcomes and defect trends
- Collaborate across engineering teams to improve testability, observability, and defect prevention
- Coordinate with vendors or suppliers on component-level testing, tooling, and test data
- Work independently on advanced technical projects
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, best practices, and contributions to shared frameworks and standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college/university
- Alternatively, four additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of a relevant four-year degree
- 3+ years of experience building automated tests
- Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Java or C#
- Hands-on expertise with React, Next.js, or Angular, including component and UI testing
- Proficiency with Testing Library, UI automation, API testing, contract testing, and reliable test design
- Experience testing backend services and microservices, including Spring Boot
- Experience managing dependencies and builds using Maven
- Experience with container-based integration testing, such as Testcontainers
- Ability to design maintainable automation frameworks using clean code, modularity, version control, and CI/CD integration
- Strong troubleshooting, defect isolation, root-cause analysis, and test-result interpretation skills
- Ability to improve quality processes, define standards, and drive adoption across teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing using OpenCode, Claude Code, and Gemini Vertex AI
- Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust
- Must provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility
- U.S. residency requirement: required recent residence in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) under the stated USPS security-clearance rules
- U.S. citizenship is not required
- No clearance currently possessed is required; no clearance must be obtained beyond the stated Public Trust
