Job Description
VP of Engineering scaling Yourgi’s pet-care marketplace and bookable center network. Leading a 30-person engineering organization through AI-first delivery and national expansion.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Yourgi’s engineering organization of roughly 30 engineers building the consumer app, provider tools, matching and booking systems, and marketplace surfaces
- Report to the Chief Product & Technology Officer with accountability for how engineering is structured, ships, and grows
- Shape teams so each owns a customer journey end to end and can ship independently
- Build technical leadership depth, assign owners for cross-cutting decisions, document engineering strategy, and develop engineering leads
- Make AI-assisted development the default workflow from specification through code and review, with automated test generation and evaluations integrated into CI/CD
- Establish engineering-owned quality through automated testing, CI/CD, and measurable engineering-health metrics
- Own the technical plan for Yourgi Connect, including real-time availability, reservation, and booking across a national network of physical centers
- Turn shared backend capabilities into platform services consumed by product teams
- Own the operating cadence, continuous deployment, feature flags, release captain rotation, and on-call process
- Present DORA delivery metrics to leadership and partner with Product on acceptance criteria and technical breakdowns
- Own hiring, leveling, growth, performance, management-bench development, budget, headcount planning, and tooling spend
Requirements:
- 12+ years in software engineering
- 6+ years leading engineering organizations through managers and leads
- Track record of building teams that own product surfaces end to end, decompose work, and grow with the business
- Direct experience adopting AI-assisted development across a team
- Experience building engineering-owned quality through automated testing and CI/CD
- Experience running remote engineering teams
- Experience owning an engineering budget and headcount plan
- Fluency making tradeoffs with Product and Finance
- Operating discipline using delivery and reliability metrics such as DORA
- Located in and authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship
- Available during regular US business hours
- Preferred: marketplace, gig-economy, or consumer-app experience
- Preferred: familiarity with two-sided matching and booking dynamics
- Preferred: mobile and web at scale, including native app release management
- Preferred: platform or core-services experience
- Preferred: experience taking a 0-to-1 product from first markets to national scale
