Job Description

Traveling Wind Technician I, II, or III maintaining all aspects of customer turbines with Deriva Energy. Candidates will work on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems while traveling with the mobile service team.

Responsibilities:

  • Always maintain a high level of safety awareness
  • Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer
  • Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
  • Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
  • Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines
  • Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation
  • Maintain all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner
  • Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork within Maximo

Requirements:

  • Wind Technician - Level I: High School/GED
  • Ability to complete Level I job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year
  • Wind Technician - Level II: High School/GED External Candidates - (3+) years of related work experience
  • Wind Technician - Level II: Must pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period.
  • Wind Technician - Level II: Internal Candidates - (1+) year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician
  • Wind Technician - Level III: High school/GED External Candidates - (3+) years of related work experience
  • Wind Technician - Level III: Must pass required Turbine Technician II and Electrical Operator I & II JPMs within the probationary period
  • Wind Technician - Level III: Internal Candidates - (1+) year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician
  • AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study
  • Experience with Vestas V82 and V90 turbines
  • High voltage and substation maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance
  • Competent with Maximo EZ Max mobile work and My Time management systems
  • Microsoft Office Including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
  • CPR and AED Training Certification
  • TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
  • Forklift certified
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must pass a background check and drug test prior to hire
