Job Description
Academic and Finance Advisor supporting National University students through academic planning, financial aid guidance, and progress monitoring. Connecting with learners across calls, email, text, and chat to support graduation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage student load and complete daily tasks through the Roadrunner System, Student Portfolio Report, or other tools
- Proactively identify and support at-risk students and connect them to success resources
- Monitor degree plans, course schedules, and academic progress for University policy and SAP compliance
- Advise students on financial aid requirements, University policies, and course-of-study changes
- Track student balances, recommend lockouts or dismissals when necessary, and assist with collection efforts
- Support escalated students professionally and deliver University communications
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, departmental projects, and special projects
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other assigned duties
- Connect with students through calls, emails, texts, and chats throughout their academic journey
Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in advising, customer service, or related work
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience in student services or training and development in a collegial setting preferred
- Experience in a fast-paced customer- or student-centric position preferred
- Experience in higher education and technology-driven enterprise preferred
- Knowledge of academic and business practices in an online university environment
- Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and updates
- Ability to manage conflict, de-escalate concerns, and communicate professionally across all channels
- Solution-oriented approach while following University and federal guidelines
- Understanding of financial aid programs, the FDCP Act, and standard payment practices
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity
- Written communication and report preparation skills
- Proficiency using technology for online engagement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Must be eligible to receive access to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
