Job Description

Adjunct faculty teaching doctoral online courses for American College of Education, a virtual institution delivering affordable professional education. Supporting students through instruction, feedback, course quality, and scholarly service.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a strong academic presence and pursue growth in teaching, scholarly or creative works, service to the profession, and service to the college
  • Report and work under the leadership of the department chair
  • Interact directly with students professionally
  • Facilitate a safe and productive online learning environment
  • Respond to student requests and contact inactive students as needed
  • Review course functionality and content to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Enhance course content with personal experience, insights, and professional knowledge
  • Monitor assignments and provide student feedback according to college policies
  • Synthesize and report student performance data
  • Support program and institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Promote ethical conduct, including plagiarism and copyright compliance
  • Direct students to supplemental resources
  • Collaborate with colleagues and college leadership, including attending required meetings
  • Promote the college's vision, mission, and culture
  • Provide leadership within one's sphere of influence
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, seminars, publications, networks, and professional societies
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging departmental issues and trends
  • Support and promote research to ensure program and course quality

Requirements:

  • Earned a terminal degree
  • Experience in Leadership, Higher Education, Research or Community College
  • 1+ year experience in teaching and leadership in a formal educational setting
  • Experience using both traditional and non-traditional teaching formats
  • Higher education teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing online/virtual professional relationships
  • Evidence of professional research and/or creative endeavors and expertise in the field
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with department personnel
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Candidates cannot reside in Alaska, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, South Dakota, or Alabama
