Job Description
Online Adjunct Theology Faculty teaching ministry-related courses for South University. Designing instruction, evaluating learning, and supporting student success in accelerated online programs.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of course outcomes
- Support all facets of the online learning environment
- Provide learning-centered instruction aligned with South University curricula and delivery model
- Design instructional plans and activities to meet course outcomes and lesson objectives
- Deliver approved instruction within online course shells
- Utilize technology to support the student learning experience
- Establish student performance criteria and evaluate learning
- Create an educational environment conducive to learning and student involvement
- Promote student success through flexibility, passion for teaching, and student engagement
- Maintain accurate records and submit grades and reports on time
- Enforce academic and attendance policies
- Relate professional, life, and industry experience to learning
- Continue professional and technical skills development and monitor industry trends
- Participate in faculty development
- Communicate with supervisors, faculty, and administrators
- Participate in curriculum and system task forces, campus events, workshops, and meetings
Requirements:
- Terminal degree (Ph.D. or D.Min.) in a field related to Ministry, including Biblical Studies, Theology, Spiritual Formation, Counseling, or related Practical Theology disciplines
- Pastoral or chaplaincy experience; five plus years preferred
- Experience in instruction or formalized education, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution
- Active, valid, and unencumbered state licensure or certification as applicable to the discipline
- Online teaching experience
- Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format, working online with students five of seven days per online week
- Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction preferred
- At least six months of teaching experience at South University or another post-secondary education institution preferred
