Job Description
Personal financial counselor supporting military service members and families across Washington military installations. Delivering counseling, financial education, workshops, and virtual support.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations resulting from military needs
- Provide personal financial counseling and management services to military service members and their families at military installations
- Deliver one-on-one counseling and consultations with commanders, providers, staff, and other stakeholders
- Conduct briefings, presentations, classes, seminars, and workshops on personal financial management
- Provide referral resources outside counseling sessions
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials
- Coordinate and publicize Personal Financial Management classes and workshops across the military lifecycle
- Provide age-appropriate classes or seminars upon request
- Utilize virtual counseling and secure electronic communication methods when authorized
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
- Communicate with leadership and participate in individual and group supervision
- Share trends and issues affecting assigned installations
- Participate in in-services, training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Associate degree plus 4 years' experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
- High school diploma plus 6 years' experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must speak fluent English
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish if required by the contract
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
- Valid in-state driver's license
