Job Description
Licensed Professional Counselor providing remote therapy for cancer patients, families, and caregivers. Developing treatment plans, documenting care, and coordinating oncology behavioral health referrals.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel clients or patients individually and/or within family sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes
- Make internal referrals to IOP if little to no improvement occurs within 8 weeks of OP therapy
- Guide clients in developing skills or strategies for dealing with problems
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge, establishing SMART goals with patients
- Develop treatment plans within 72 hours after intake and update or modify them every 4 weeks
- Complete and maintain client-related paperwork, diagnostic records, progress notes, treatment records, and reports
- Complete progress notes within 48 hours after every session
- Evaluate clients’ physical or mental condition based on client information
- Collaborate with staff on clinical assessments and treatment plans within 2 days of establishing care
- Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or specialists as necessary
- Keep current on counseling developments through professional literature, courses, seminars, and contact with social service agencies
Requirements:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or university
- Two years of professional level experience in a counselor setting
- Active Licensed Professional Counselor license in Virginia is required
- 2+ years experience in healthcare with oncology (preferred)
- 1 year experience in Telehealth Settings (preferred)
- Minimum client load of 18 hours per week

- Option to transition from a 1099 contractor position into a W2 role after 90 days and averaging 25 hours a week
