Job Description
Bilingual Croatian PhD scientist evaluating scientific AI responses and writing safety prompts. Supporting Mercor’s frontier-model training through expert technical annotation.
Responsibilities:
- Write expert-level prompts in Croatian across specialized scientific topics
- Evaluate and annotate AI model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate handling of sensitive content
- Apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations
- Help make advanced AI models safer
- Work on projects focused on training and enhancing AI systems
- Complete work independently on a flexible schedule
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance
Requirements:
- PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field, ongoing or completed
- Depth to write prompts across chemical, biological, or radiological and nuclear subject areas
- Native or near-native fluency in Croatian
- Business-level written English
- Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in the relevant subfield
- Sound judgment around scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information
- Demonstrated depth in a specific scientific subfield
- Radiological and nuclear expertise from a chemistry background qualifies, including radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics
- Research or coursework touching on chemical safety and security, biosafety and biosecurity, or hazardous-materials handling
- Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content is a plus
- Applicants must not require H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship/support
