Job Description

Business Teacher delivering personalized online instruction for Stride’s K12 partner school, Coast to Mountains Preparatory Academy. Monitoring student progress, supporting families, and preparing learners for standardized tests.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specific Business course content in an online environment
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
  • Personalize instruction to students’ individual needs and differentiate based on mastery
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Maintain the grade book and make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Travel as required for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and school functions
  • Collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations and use them for instructional decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Appropriate state Department of Education Business Teaching Certification
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
  • Experience working with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
  • Experience teaching in an online or brick-and-mortar environment
  • Experience with online learning platforms
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
  • Preferred residency in North Carolina or South Carolina; candidates residing in surrounding states Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia may be considered
