Job Description
Business Teacher delivering personalized online instruction for Stride’s K12 partner school, Coast to Mountains Preparatory Academy. Monitoring student progress, supporting families, and preparing learners for standardized tests.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specific Business course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Personalize instruction to students’ individual needs and differentiate based on mastery
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Maintain the grade book and make student placement and promotion decisions
- Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
- Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Travel as required for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and school functions
- Collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations and use them for instructional decisions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Appropriate state Department of Education Business Teaching Certification
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday
- Experience working with the proposed age group
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Experience teaching in an online or brick-and-mortar environment
- Experience with online learning platforms
- Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
- Preferred residency in North Carolina or South Carolina; candidates residing in surrounding states Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia may be considered
