Job Description
Online high school social sciences teacher for Stride’s Tennessee virtual academy. Delivering personalized instruction, monitoring student progress, and supporting families in a virtual learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for high school students
- Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
- Augment course content using approved synchronous and asynchronous tools
- Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions and alert administrators to performance concerns
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish positive rapport with families and communicate promptly with students, parents, and learning coaches
- Support parents and learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Tennessee Certification
- Must be able to obtain a Tennessee Teaching License prior to employment
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Ability to attend in-person professional development, testing, and other school events
- Experience working with the proposed age group desired
- Experience supporting adults and children using technology desired
- Experience teaching online/virtual or in a brick-and-mortar environment desired
- Experience with online learning platforms desired
- Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
