Job Description
Level IV facility technician installing, testing, and integrating telecom fiber systems and routers. Supporting Pearce’s mission-critical infrastructure maintenance services across the Ohio home region.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed site surveys, installation, integration, and testing of customer-premise fiber systems and routers via dispatch work tickets
- Install and test fiber systems according to Telco Standards
- Install telecommunications equipment, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls
- Install cable trays and/or racking from drawings and engineering documents
- Identify, label, measure, terminate, and route AC/DC power and data cables
- Conduct testing and document hardware and software performance characteristics
- Perform test, turn-up, and integration activities
- Resolve equipment, technical, and project-related issues
- Perform in-process and final quality audits and validation
- Maintain accurate installation and project documentation
- Interface with customers, vendors, Installation, Engineering, Project Management, and other employees
- Review subordinate time and expense documentation
- Perform emergency break/fix repairs and outage callouts
- Travel within the home region using a company vehicle, including overnight stays when required
- Perform other duties as requested
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years’ installation experience or combination of experience and training as determined by company management
- Prior leadership experience required
- High school diploma with two years technical school or a combination of training and experience related to telecommunications field installations
- Mastered installation skills and testing per Telco Standards
- Comprehensive equipment installation and system testing/integration experience
- Knowledge and experience with transport equipment including Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Nortel, Nokia, DELL, and Juniper
- Deep understanding of fiber installation standards and procedures
- Ability to read and follow Method of Procedures, order specifications, floor plans, equipment, and wiring documentation
- Turn-up and integration system testing skills
- Proficiency generating MOPs, high-risk activity reports, work schedules, test records, and project completion reports
- Proficient laptop computer skills and experience with applications
- MS Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow company/customer policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Ability to comply with OSHA Standards
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and be insurable
- Ability to work a variety of shifts and travel with overnight stays if required
- Ability to vertically lift 50 lbs and stand, walk, climb ladders, and crawl in tight spaces
- Verizon network equipment installation and maintenance experience or equivalent is a plus
- Verizon commercial premise installation experience is a plus
