Job Description

CFO advisory manager supporting private equity-backed companies at CBIZ, a professional services advisor. Improving finance functions, reporting, integrations, and operational performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop collaborative, lasting relationships with private equity clients and portfolio company management teams
  • Execute accounting and finance workstreams within a structured engagement model
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for client stakeholders within the assigned scope
  • Support engagement leadership in planning, coordination, and delivery of key outputs
  • Contribute to client discussions and presentations, including status updates
  • Provide hands-on accounting and finance support to private equity-backed companies
  • Support post-acquisition integration
  • Improve financial reporting and close processes
  • Support audit readiness and preparation
  • Perform working capital, cash flow, and operational finance analysis
  • Prepare accurate, well-structured, client-ready analyses, schedules, and deliverables
  • Manage assigned workstreams and meet established timelines
  • Communicate with Controllers, CFOs, and private equity representatives
  • Participate in client meetings and provide updates and supporting materials
  • Identify risks, challenges, or delays and proactively communicate them to engagement leadership

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years of experience in related field
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Must have and preserve required licenses
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements for private companies
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification
  • Prior experience in audit, advisory, financial consulting, or operational finance, preferably within a private equity-backed portfolio company environment
  • Strong analytical, Excel, and financial modeling skills
  • Ability to clearly present financial information
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
