Job Description
CFO advisory manager supporting private equity-backed companies at CBIZ, a professional services advisor. Improving finance functions, reporting, integrations, and operational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop collaborative, lasting relationships with private equity clients and portfolio company management teams
- Execute accounting and finance workstreams within a structured engagement model
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for client stakeholders within the assigned scope
- Support engagement leadership in planning, coordination, and delivery of key outputs
- Contribute to client discussions and presentations, including status updates
- Provide hands-on accounting and finance support to private equity-backed companies
- Support post-acquisition integration
- Improve financial reporting and close processes
- Support audit readiness and preparation
- Perform working capital, cash flow, and operational finance analysis
- Prepare accurate, well-structured, client-ready analyses, schedules, and deliverables
- Manage assigned workstreams and meet established timelines
- Communicate with Controllers, CFOs, and private equity representatives
- Participate in client meetings and provide updates and supporting materials
- Identify risks, challenges, or delays and proactively communicate them to engagement leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years of experience in related field
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Must have and preserve required licenses
- Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, internally and externally
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements for private companies
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Prior experience in audit, advisory, financial consulting, or operational finance, preferably within a private equity-backed portfolio company environment
- Strong analytical, Excel, and financial modeling skills
- Ability to clearly present financial information
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
