Job Description

Field-based Clinical Account Specialist launching Ionis RNA medicines in Puerto Rico. Educating healthcare providers and building strategic accounts for severe hypertriglyceridemia treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the launch and ongoing growth of Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product within the assigned territory as its indication expands from Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) to severe hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG)
  • Engage key customers and accounts, identify opportunities to improve patient care, and build partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem
  • Build, maintain, and leverage local healthcare-system networks and relationships
  • Develop and execute effective business plans and customer-focused territory strategic account plans
  • Educate HCPs and office staff on sHTG disease awareness, diagnostic pathways, and treatment prioritization
  • Create positive prescribing experiences through value-added resources and HCP/patient support materials and programs
  • Participate in conferences, congresses, and scientific meetings to educate HCPs on sHTG and its treatment
  • Gather account insights and provide feedback to field leadership and marketing to inform product sales and marketing strategy
  • Understand local referral networks and identify, validate, and document potential HCPs treating sHTG patients
  • Develop focused tactics based on brand requirements and current and future customer needs
  • Adjust strategies to meet business goals in the assigned region
  • Participate in field meetings and training programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teammates and share customer-engagement learnings with field teams and leadership
  • Use available platforms and technology to compliantly engage customers through multiple channels
  • Partner on accounts involving patients seen by multiple specialties across geographies

Requirements:

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and driving record in compliance with company standards
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Pharma sales
  • Experience in new product launches
  • Experience with account-based selling
  • HCP and IDN engagement experience
  • Cross-functional field team coordination
  • Prior experience independently managing a sales territory
  • Background in cardiology, endocrinology, and other sub-specialties that treat FCS patients
  • Injectable experience preferred
  • Familiarity with cardiometabolic and lipid-related diseases such as severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG)
  • Established relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and major accounts
  • Ability to analyze market data and develop territory strategies
  • Record of navigating complex accounts and aligning solutions with patient needs
  • Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to addressing patient needs
  • Ability to learn and adhere to the company's mission, vision, policies and procedures, including the Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
  • Ability to complete approved-label and compliance training and comply with customer engagement policies
