Job Description
Commodity Manager managing procurement for non-Otis items in Service Supply Chain Management at Otis. Developing strategies for sourcing, communication with stakeholders, and delivering cost savings.
Responsibilities:
- Create a category specific strategy for respective commodities managed; driving to the goal of 100% spend under management via centralization or purchasing pathway control.
- Responsible for defining and implementing sourcing processes in coordination with Operations and Field Office Stakeholders, with clearly documented standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for category savings delivery for respective commodities managed.
- Support repair emphasis to reduce dependency and volume on material purchases, support aging equipment.
- Learn from and implement Field Office preferences and weigh alongside a national level support structure.
- Coordinate with Engineering stakeholders to ensure sourcing processes and “best practices” maintain Otis's service standards.
- Locate competitive multi-sourcing opportunities for electrical and mechanical components in alignment with engineering recommendations.
- Clearly communicate Otis’ needs to such suppliers, and create opportunities for them to improve our current sourcing structure; Otis's supplier champion for all suppliers in respective commodities managed.
- Locate opportunities to expand and create catalog offerings through FRS (Field Requisition System).
- Analyze and forecast demand levels to determine stock vs. catalog opportunities.
- Seek, negotiate, and enter into supply agreements to benefit dedicated spending with managed suppliers.
- Maintain alignment with Otis based 3rd party affiliates, like Unitec Parts Co., to maintain cohesive strategy.
- Prepare purchase orders (PO) for non-Otis equipment sourced from national and international suppliers; ensure supplier compliance with Otis Terms and Conditions.
- Ensure supplier PO and price confirmation; responsible for utilizing negotiating techniques to ensure material pricing is supplier’s best offer.
- Manage material logistics; ensure on-time deliveries, proper inventory level, and support services rates/performance metrics.
- Work with OSC's Customer Service, Engineering, and UNITEC, and external Supplier groups to resolve supply issues promptly; demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Identify & execute sourcing opportunities through alternate supplier sources.
- Manage catalog sourcing & pricing as well as custom competitively sourced projects.
- Maintain a high service level (SLA) by evaluating customer demand and expediting material to meet internal/external customer needs.
- Manage suppliers to perform quality, delivery, cost, and inventory metrics.
- Ability to perform timely escalations on issues that arise during centralized sourcing exercises.
- Compile price proposals, financial reports, and analyses to support price reasonableness, purchase quantity, and strategy; strong analytical skills required.
- Participate in process improvement activities to improve internal processes for quality and productivity & deploy future state field supply chain goals.
- Resolve discrepancies in purchase orders.
- Resolve material rejections.
- Manage price increases.
- Identify cost savings opportunities.
- Resolve invoicing issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of supply chain experience.
- 3+ years of elevator field experience is desirable.
- People management experience.
- Experience with SDC MOD eLog experience.
- Experience with other estimating tools.
- Proficiency with Global JDE and related systems (K2).
- Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Forms, Smartsheet, and Teams.
- Experience with data tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and elevator/escalator specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Field Operations, Engineering, Supplier Quality).
- Ability to travel up to 25% in the US and Canada.
