Job Description
Consultant documenting the success of rabies control efforts in Trinidad and Tobago for PAHO. Engaging with health ministries and various authorities to validate elimination of dog mediated rabies.
Responsibilities:
- Establish Trinidad and Tobago as the 2nd PAHO country to successfully document elimination of dog mediated rabies as a public health problem
- Review and catalog any coordination, communication, and collaboration gaps in the administrative interfaces within the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities
- Position the country to mount a more coherent response to any emerging or endemic zoonotic infections
- Prepare a Dossier of evidence for presentation to WHO requesting validation that human rabies mediated by dogs has been eliminated as a public health problem in Trinidad and Tobago
- Document gaps and/or challenges to obtaining information for review by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of Health.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human or animal health sciences from a recognized institution
- Minimum 7 years of national experience working with various health ministry programmes
- Experience in data analysis, impact assessment, or similar studies
- 3 years’ experience in zoonotic or vector-based disease prevention or veterinary health services and/or microbiology laboratory operations
- Experience working with Ministries of Health or national authorities
- Knowledge of health systems and operations
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Strong professional writing skills
- Project management and coordination skills
- Stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
Benefits:
- The total value of the contract is TTD 201,000.00
