Job Description
Cost Manager managing estimates, bids, reporting, and cost control for Turner & Townsend’s commercial real estate construction projects. Supporting large-scale office and workplace developments across U.S. markets.
Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on procurement strategies and manage vendor prequalification, bids, bid leveling, interviews, and appointments
- Manage project estimating for construction, fees, direct work, and other costs
- Review and present estimates, value engineering recommendations, and risk assessments to clients
- Review, validate, and challenge vendor costs using benchmark data
- Establish cost reporting schedules and review and present cost reports and forecasts
- Maintain commercial risk registers and host meetings with project teams and vendors
- Manage cost control, payment application assessments, contractor entitlements, change orders, payment requisitions, and contractual disputes
- Manage and monitor invoicing processes
- Benchmark performance against successful commissions
- Manage final accounting, post-contract audits, and account close-outs
- Conduct post-contract reviews, document lessons learned, and develop training materials
- Develop project handover procedures
- Use Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, cost estimating software, and take-off software
- Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a construction-related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry
- RICS accredited or working towards it is valuable
- Experience supporting cost management on medium or large-sized commercial, corporate interiors, workplace, office, or regional hub construction projects
- Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
- Strong communication skills
