Job Description

Senior Development Manager leading affordable housing projects for Stonewater, a major UK social housing provider. Managing regional schemes, budgets, acquisitions and development teams from planning through completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of a programme of affordable housing developments from pre-contract stage through to completion
  • Manage complex and large-scale development projects through design, procurement and construction phases
  • Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, developers, landowners, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders
  • Support identification, appraisal and acquisition of new business opportunities and development sites
  • Lead planning application submissions and Section 106 negotiations
  • Provide leadership, coaching and support to Development Managers and Project Officers
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, cashflows and financial performance across the development portfolio
  • Ensure accurate reporting, compliance and programme data management
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful handover of completed homes for sale or lettings
  • Deputise for the Head of Development where required and provide leadership during periods of high demand
  • Deliver the regional development programme safely, efficiently, on budget and to the highest standards

Requirements:

  • Significant experience managing housing development projects from acquisition through to completion
  • Strong knowledge of affordable housing delivery, planning processes, Homes England requirements and construction practices
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management capability
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • Ability to solve complex problems, drive change and continuously improve processes and outcomes
  • Collaborative approach with confidence to make decisions and take ownership of results
  • Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check, if applicable
  • Satisfactory references
  • Valid Right to Work document
  • May require specific qualifications, skills, knowledge and behaviours to meet the Competence and Conduct Standard for Social Housing
  • If not already qualified, may be expected to study towards a professional qualification
