Job Description
Property Desk Adjuster managing complex homeowners claims for National General, an insurer offering personal and commercial coverage. Investigating losses, evaluating damages, and negotiating settlements remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and evaluate homeowners property claims from start to finish
- Confirm facts of loss, determine coverage, assess damages, and negotiate settlements within assigned authority
- Manage the full claim lifecycle, including supplements, Additional Living Expense claims, contents, and personal property losses
- Communicate clearly and promptly with customers throughout the claims process
- Work with customers, contractors, and other partners to handle claims accurately and efficiently
- Support claim volume across the New England region, with additional states assigned based on business needs
- Apply extensive experience or rotate into specialty areas such as coverage, investigation, litigation, large loss, water mitigation, or desk review
- Partner with fraud and subrogation representatives on applicable claims
- Recognize residential construction and repair components, including structural integrity and home systems
- Identify complex customer needs and address them using appropriate customer service skills
- Determine subrogation or fraud potential and handling approach
- Handle complex homeowners first-party claims involving coverage, damages, and subrogation with discretion and independence
- No supervisory duties
Requirements:
- Experienced Property Desk Adjuster
- Preferably located in the Central or Eastern Time Zone
- Proficiency in Xactimate
- Strong foundation in claims handling, including supplements, ALE, contents, and full claim ownership
- Experience handling claims in both field and desk settings strongly preferred
- Active adjuster license or a license qualifying for reciprocity in applicable states strongly preferred
- Candidates must possess authorization to work in the United States
- Must terminate existing insurance license appointments before onboarding and must not hold outside appointments during employment
- Resident producer license holders must surrender that license when instructed by the licensing team
- Dedicated, private home workspace free from distractions
- Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
