Job Description

Field property adjuster investigating, estimating, and settling complex homeowners claims for National General. Handling high-value losses across all property exposures remotely in Westchester or Rockland, New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and confirm facts of loss for complex homeowner claims
  • Determine coverage and damages and adjust and negotiate claims within authority limits
  • Create comprehensive estimates of damages for complex first-party homeowner claims
  • Serve as a peer mentor and provide direction to more junior employees
  • Estimate damages for complex first-party homeowner losses of all severities
  • Build relationships with internal and external customers
  • Interpret regulatory compliance and fair claims practices
  • Negotiate settlements, make settlement payments, and document file activities
  • Interpret policy types and assist leadership with formal and ad hoc training
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Provide customer service and support escalations

Requirements:

  • Must reside within Westchester, New York or Rockland, New York
  • Experienced property field adjuster claims professional
  • Strong background handling high-volume and complex homeowners claims, including losses up to $250K
  • Expertise writing and reviewing complex repair estimates
  • Experience managing high-value properties
  • Ability to own claims from start to finish across dwelling, contents, ALE, mitigation, and supplements
  • Preferred insurance carrier experience and field exposure
  • Ability to partner effectively with independent adjusters and cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
  • Ability to navigate storm, water, and hail claims
  • Proven customer service record, including supporting escalations
  • Mastery of estimating fundamentals
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and fair claims practices
  • Knowledge of company policy types
  • Applicable active licenses may include a Home Resident Property & Casualty License, Designated Home State Florida or Texas License, and/or applicable Appraiser License
  • Must possess authorization to work in the United States
  • Active insurance license holders must terminate existing appointments before onboarding and cannot hold outside appointments during employment
  • Applicants with a resident producer license must surrender it when instructed
  • Dedicated private workspace and appropriate desk and seating for home working
  • Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
