Job Description
Digital Content Editor creating, editing and publishing timely journalism for global media organization Newsweek. Optimizing stories through audience analytics, SEO and multimedia collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, optimize and publish digital copy quickly and cleanly
- Ensure timely, high-quality reporting that is accurate, fair and conforms to accepted journalism standards
- Work with editors and reporters to create content
- Edit copy, headlines, images, captions, graphics and video for accuracy, clarity and impact
- Turn source material into original stories through additional reporting, expert comment and context
- Source and prepare relevant images and video, verifying rights and credits
- Use audience analytics to inform editorial decisions and improve content reach, engagement and performance
- Provide feedback and guidance to reporters to improve standards
- Collaborate with social, SEO and multimedia teams to optimize content
- Work accurately under pressure and meet tight publishing deadlines
- Perform other reasonable duties necessary to meet business needs
Requirements:
- Significant relevant experience in digital editing and reporting roles
- Strong news judgment across a range of subjects
- Proven record of editing quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent writing, rewriting and copy-editing skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of content management systems, SEO, audience analytics and editing assistance software
- Demonstrable knowledge of common IT tools such as the Microsoft suite
- WordPress experience is a plus
