Job Description
Gartner Director Analyst advising enterprise legal and assurance leaders on privacy, information governance, and AI governance. Producing research, insights, and actionable client recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Create innovative, thought-provoking, highly leveraged “must-have insights” content
- Develop new insights and ideas through thought leadership and provide compelling, actionable approaches to client needs
- Serve as a leading authority on privacy and information governance topics, including privacy strategy, GDPR, CCPA, DPIAs, data transfers, data mapping, subject rights requests, cookies, consent management, AI and privacy, biometrics, and consumer trust
- Stay abreast of external trends in privacy, AI, and AI governance
- Collaborate with peers and experts across Legal, IT, Finance, and other teams
- Develop content and insight around emerging AI governance topics
- Analyze client barriers and needs to identify root causes and drive strategy forward
- Establish Insights positions across a team of analysts and bring independent insights to Gartner leaders
- Research, analyze, and predict market trends and shifts
- Provide actionable advice to clients and prospects through virtual and face-to-face interactions
- Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, conferences, and client briefings
- Support BTI and Sales by serving as the voice of the market and helping drive client engagement
- Conduct timely, high-quality content peer reviews
- Represent Gartner insights, methodology, and strategy as an industry expert
- Participate in innovation, ideation, research discussions, and collaboration across the Insights community
- Identify research process improvements and develop new processes for service delivery
- Mentor and coach more junior team members
- Help clients engage regularly with Gartner insights and interactions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; JD degree preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience in privacy, information governance, or an in-house corporate legal department
- Experience leading or coordinating privacy risk management efforts
- Experience setting or executing privacy strategy
- Experience working on information or data governance across multiple stakeholder groups
- Experience reviewing and synthesizing emerging privacy and related regulations
- Executive presence and ability to establish credibility with executives and stakeholders
- Experience with AI governance highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellence in research and writing
- Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical, and presentation skills
- Ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
- Proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing data, applying patterns and frameworks, and defending conclusions
- Ability to explain complex concepts concisely and simply
- Subject matter expertise and comfort presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within the subject area
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams in a multicultural global team
- Learning agility and ability to navigate highly matrixed environments
- Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%, where applicable
