Job Description
Engineering Director leading Intermedia’s cloud communications integration platform and Unite Integrations Builder. Driving APIs, integrations, architecture, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering organization responsible for Unite Integrations Builder and the Integration Platform
- Establish technical direction, execution priorities, and engineering standards
- Own the engineering strategy and technical roadmap for a scalable integration platform
- Drive architecture and evolution of APIs, connectors, webhooks, event-driven integrations, workflow automation, authentication/authorization, data mapping, and reusable integration services
- Partner with Product Management to define platform capabilities, evaluate technical approaches, provide delivery estimates, and translate product strategy into executable engineering plans
- Build platform capabilities for creating, configuring, testing, deploying, monitoring, and managing integrations through Unite Integrations Builder
- Establish API-first and platform engineering standards promoting extensibility, reuse, security, backward compatibility, reliability, and developer experience
- Ensure enterprise-grade availability, performance, observability, governance, and security across the Integration Platform
- Collaborate with product engineering, architecture, QA, SRE/DevOps, security, support, sales engineering, and partner teams
- Define engineering metrics and operating mechanisms for delivery predictability, platform adoption, quality, reliability, performance, technical debt, and developer productivity
- Develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders while fostering accountability, technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Guide technical reviews and architectural decisions for complex integration and platform initiatives
- Identify opportunities to apply AI to integration development, configuration, mapping, troubleshooting, documentation, and workflow creation
Requirements:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant engineering leadership experience managing managers and/or multiple software development teams
- Proven ability to define and execute technical roadmaps for scalable, highly available cloud software products and platforms
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, cloud-native development, security, observability, and modern software development life cycle practices
- Demonstrated experience partnering with Product Management to translate business strategy and product roadmaps into executable engineering plans, estimates, milestones, and technical investments
- Experience building high-performing engineering organizations through hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and development of engineering leaders and senior technical talent
- Strong knowledge of Agile development, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, release management, and DevOps/SRE practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to make sound technical and organizational decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, including the ability to influence executives, product leaders, architects, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience with enterprise integration platforms, iPaaS concepts, integration builders, workflow/orchestration engines, or developer platforms
- Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, event-driven architecture, messaging, queues, and asynchronous processing
- Experience with OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API authentication and authorization, secrets management, and secure third-party connectivity
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or AWS; containers and cloud-native services are strongly preferred
- Experience with API lifecycle management, versioning, developer portals/SDKs, observability, rate limiting, and platform governance
- Experience integrating SaaS/enterprise applications such as CRM, productivity, communications, contact center, or collaboration platforms is highly desirable
- Experience using AI/LLMs to improve developer tooling, integration creation, workflow automation, or platform experiences is a plus
