Job Description
Electrical Engineer designing utility-scale battery energy storage systems for NEI Electric Power Engineering. Developing power studies, specifications, and construction documents for utility-scale projects.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer
- Coordinate with integrated, multi-disciplinary design teams to meet project schedules, deliverables, and budgets
- Perform detailed physical and electrical design and engineering for utility-scale battery energy storage systems
- Prepare BESS equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bills of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, and illumination plans
- Prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies, including equipment sizing, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, and related studies
- Write material, equipment, and construction specifications
- Review spec sheets and submittals for conformance with specifications and design
- Prepare project documents and reports, including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies
- Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports
- Review Designers’, Drafters’, and Field Service Personnel’s work for quality and accuracy
- Maintain understanding of applicable Codes and Standards
- Maintain Company-Client relationships and communicate about assignments and meetings
- Work additional time beyond 40 hours per week as required
- Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, and classes as appropriate
- Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
- 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience
- FE, PE is a plus, but not required
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Effective written and oral communications skills
- Good interpersonal and people skills
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Experience with utility-scale BESS
- Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, electrical power system study software (PowerFactory, ETAP), CYMCAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, Visual Lighting, etc.
- Experience with 3D BIM design software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software
- Must be able to lift 25lbs.
