Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer designing solar and BESS electrical systems for Knobelsdorff, a turnkey specialty contractor. Supporting construction, permitting, compliance, and field performance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze electrical systems for solar and BESS installations
- Create system layouts, stringing plans, voltage drop calculations, and specifications
- Support construction with site visits and technical reviews
- Develop and maintain system drawings, equipment specifications, and reports
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, and industry standards
- Collaborate with project managers, customers, and regulators
- Review vendor submittals and coordinate with procurement
- Maintain accurate documentation within project databases
- Provide feedback and improvements based on field conditions
- Assist with permitting and interconnection requirements
- Travel to job sites as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
- 3–5 years of experience in solar, renewable energy, or power systems design
- Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable renewable energy standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVCase, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Experience with DC and AC electrical systems, including low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) preferred
- Experience with electrical drawing sets and single-line diagrams (SLDs) preferred
- Experience with material takeoffs preferred
- Experience with equipment approval drawings and submittals preferred
- Experience with constructability reviews preferred
- Field or construction experience preferred
- Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and walk for extended periods
- Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
- Occasional travel to project sites required
