Job Description
Electrical Engineer designing and commissioning machinery controls for Georgia-Pacific’s manufacturing operations. Supporting industrial capital projects across the Southeast with AutoCAD, Rockwell, and field engineering expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Execute electrical project development, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure installations align with specifications, safety codes, and customer requirements.
- Provide subject matter expertise for consultant-led projects.
- Review and validate external engineering firms’ design packages and project documentation.
- Use AutoCAD and Rockwell computer-assisted design software to produce engineering deliverables.
- Partner with customers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver optimized project solutions.
- Oversee installation and construction activities for compliance with standards and regulatory codes.
- Manage documentation and testing procedures.
- Estimate engineering, equipment, material, labor, and construction costs for project budgets and approvals.
- Drive electrical initiatives that improve safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, deadlines, deliverables, and quality standards.
- Travel approximately 30% or as required.
Requirements:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or similar with 4+ years of industrial electrical engineering design experience, or 6+ years designing and supporting industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to design, program, and troubleshoot Rockwell ControlLogix and FactoryTalk View systems.
- Ability to design and support industrial networks, device integrations, and communications among PLCs, drives, and process equipment.
- Knowledge of grounding, lighting, low-voltage power distribution, and NEC requirements for industrial electrical installations.
- Competency creating electrical plans, schematics, interconnection drawings, PLC sets, and single-line diagrams in AutoCAD.
- Experience assembling specifications, standards, and compliance documentation for competitive bidding.
- Professional experience working in heavy industrial facilities.
- Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, climb ladders and stairs, and wear PPE in designated areas.
- Ability to work independently, build plant relationships, and execute effectively in field environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.
- Preferred: experience specifying, commissioning, and troubleshooting Kinetix or Delta RMC motion systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with NFPA and OSHA electrical safety standards.
- Preferred: proficiency developing engineering and construction cost estimates.
- Preferred: ability to specify and procure MV/LV switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and related equipment up to 15kV.
- Preferred: experience with Schweitzer protective relays, short-circuit studies, overcurrent-device coordination, and arc-flash hazard analysis.
- Preferred: EIT or PE licensure in at least one state.
