Job Description
Engineering Manager leading Netflix’s cloud network engineering team. Building observability, DNS control plane, and network interface software for global streaming infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of software engineers developing network observability, DNS control plane, and network interface software
- Hire, oversee, and grow software developers
- Form strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering teams to align solutions with their needs
- Maintain focus on agility, scalability, reliability, and efficiency
- Build Netflix's network observability capability and guide development of a visibility platform for understanding, debugging, and securing traffic
- Improve the distributed system control plane enabling safe DNS management at Netflix
Requirements:
- Experienced Software Engineering Leader
- Product-focused leader who understands what customers want and has a passion for building high-scale critical platforms
- Leadership that treats the Engineering process as a product and identifies friction in how the team builds, ships, and fixes software
- Strong software development focus with past work abstracting away complexity and guiding teams to deliver simple, effective solutions to customers
- Outcome-focused mindset and first-principles thinking
- Experience building and operating complex distributed systems at scale
- Experience with building/consuming the networking stack of a public cloud is a plus
- Ability to ship through organizational complexity
- Ability to proactively resolve cross-team dependencies, migration sequencing, and competing priorities
- Ability to build consensus and influence peer teams to move initiatives forward
- Solid understanding of Layer3/Layer4 networking and network security is a plus
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
