Job Description
Engineering Manager leading courier dispatch, matching, pricing, and ETA systems at Mrsool, an on-demand delivery platform. Guiding backend engineering, data science integration, and operational reliability at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, grow, and retain a team of 8–10 engineers, including hiring, performance management, career development, and team delivery cadence
- Set technical direction for the Courier domain covering dispatch strategy, matching, courier pricing, and ETA
- Drive RFCs, HLD/LLD design documents, execution plans, and high engineering standards
- Define metrics, require measurement before and after changes, and use A/B and quasi-experimental testing
- Partner with data scientists and ML systems on dispatch optimisation, dynamic and surge pricing, forecasting, and ETA prediction
- Guide highly concurrent, low-latency systems handling massive real-time throughput and logistics data pipelines
- Own reliability and root-cause discipline for the Courier domain
- Champion staging/E2E validation, observability, tracing, metrics, and CI/CD
- Partner with product, operations, data science, and engineering squads
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term architectural stability and identify structural improvements
Requirements:
- 8+ years in software engineering
- 2+ years managing engineering teams
- Experience in fast-paced product startups or high-scale tech enterprises
- Track record leading teams delivering reliable, high-scale backend/distributed systems
- Strong judgement on hiring, delivery, and raising technical standards
- Strong grasp of data science and statistics, including experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, and optimisation/ML concepts
- Distributed systems knowledge covering concurrency, event-driven architectures, and CAP theorem trade-offs
- Comfortable with SQL and a backend language such as Go, Python, or Ruby
- Understanding of production data pipelines feeding models and metrics
- First-principles problem-solving and balancing reliability, latency, scaling, and cost
- Bias toward early shipping and iterative incremental changes
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, set technical and organisational expectations, handle stakeholders, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field
