Job Description
Engineering Manager overseeing a distributed engineering team in LATAM. Required experience in Java, AI-assisted coding tools, and leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional engineering team distributed across America
- Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, career development plans, and provide ongoing coaching
- Oversee planning, prioritization, and roadmap execution in partnership with product and stakeholders
- Strengthen engineering culture, agile practices, and continuous improvement processes
- Drive technical decision-making across front-end (Angular, React.js, TypeScript) and backend (Java)
- Provide technical oversight and guidance for Java-based services and APIs
- Support the design and implementation of solutions within AWS and CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure engineering standards, code quality, testing practices, performance, and security requirements are met
- Participate in requirement refinement, architectural discussions, and incident resolution when needed
- Facilitate seamless communication among distributed teams
- Act as a point of escalation for both technical and organizational challenges
- Promote and guide the effective use of AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Curor, or similar) to improve development speed, code quality, and developer experience
- Establish best practices for AI-supported code generation, refactoring, testing, and documentation, ensuring maintainability and security
- Balance fast experimentation with architectural discipline and long-term code health
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- Proven track record managing distributed and multicultural teams
- Ability to standardize practices, improve processes, and deliver high-quality results
- Previous experience working in international environments is highly valued
- Native spanish speaker
- Advanced English (C1/C2) — required
- Nice to Have Scrum / Agile certifications (PSM, CSM, etc.)
- Experience acting as a Scrum Master or driving agile transformation
- Experience with SQL databases and data-driven systems
- Experience scaling engineering teams or products in high-growth environments
- Experience leading teams that actively use AI-assisted coding and defining internal guidelines or guardrails for AI usage in engineering teams
