Job Description
Engineering Manager leading Coinbase’s Market Data & Analytics team. Scaling low-latency data systems powering institutional trading, risk, and clearing.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Market Data & Analytics engineering team within Coinbase’s Institutional product group
- Own the technical roadmap for the market data and analytics domain
- Align priorities with Institutional product goals and drive execution from planning through delivery
- Lead and grow a team of 5–10 engineers through coaching and career development
- Partner with Product, Design, Exchange, Derivatives, Prime, Risk, and cross-functional engineering teams
- Scope, sequence, and ship market data and analytics capabilities
- Ensure index pricing and market data feeds meet correctness, latency, reliability, and uptime requirements at scale
- Shape engineering culture and hiring for the team
- Build a pipeline of exceptional talent and maintain high standards for code quality and operational rigor
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years managing engineering teams building high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems
- Proven track record delivering real-time data, market data, or financial infrastructure systems processing high volumes with strict accuracy and reliability requirements
- Deep technical fluency in systems design and streaming/data pipelines
- Backend language experience in at least one of Java, Kotlin, Go, or C++
- Experience hiring, developing, and retaining senior engineers, with measurable outcomes in team growth and retention
- Experience partnering with Product and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into clear engineering plans with well-defined milestones
- Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight
- Must be based in the USA
