Job Description
Engineering Manager leading teams building security, governance systems for Mural’s platform. Balancing technical contributions and team development in a remote setting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a team
- Manage and develop full-stack engineers
- Create clarity around priorities, ownership, and execution
- Drive predictable delivery against a defined roadmap
- Coach engineers in system design and operational excellence
- Contribute hands-on (~30% of your time) to design and implementation
- Develop backend services using Node.js and TypeScript (or similar modern stacks)
- Ensure services are scalable, observable, and reliable
- Define and uphold service-level objectives
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Collaborate with Product to translate requirements into well-scoped solutions
Requirements:
- Experience building backend systems in a SaaS environment
- Exposure to security, governance, or compliance-related capabilities
- Strong understanding of secure API design, event-driven systems, access control, and observability
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years managing engineers
- A hands-on leadership style — comfortable reviewing designs and code
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems
