Job Description
Freelance video editor transforming raw footage into engaging Instagram Reels and TikTok content. Developing hooks, pacing, captions, graphics, and creative edits that improve viewer retention.
Responsibilities:
- Edit approximately 12–15 short-form social videos per month
- Turn raw footage, interviews, and social content into engaging vertical videos
- Identify strong hooks, reactions, soundbites, and entertaining moments
- Create platform-native edits for Instagram Reels and TikTok
- Use captions, cuts, zooms, graphics, sound effects, reactions, and other creative treatments
- Keep viewers engaged during slower or less visually interesting moments
- Adapt editing approaches to different content rather than relying on one template
- Collaborate with the social team while independently recommending creative approaches
Requirements:
- Experience creating social-first short-form content
- Strong understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok, and short-form social content
- Strong creative instincts and ability to make independent editing decisions
- Understanding of pacing, viewer retention, hooks, and removing dead moments
- Ability to make ordinary footage engaging through creative editing
- Ability to adapt editing style to the footage, concept, and audience
- Portfolio demonstrating Instagram Reels
- Portfolio demonstrating TikTok content
- Portfolio demonstrating social-first interview edits
- Portfolio demonstrating creator/influencer-style content
- Portfolio demonstrating personality-led videos
- Portfolio demonstrating fast-paced or humorous social content
- Portfolio demonstrating videos where editing plays a major role in entertainment value
