Job Description

Frontend engineer evaluating AI-generated webpage implementations for 24-MAG’s remote consulting platform. Comparing visual fidelity, responsive behavior, code quality, and accessibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Compare a reference webpage against two AI-generated frontend implementations
  • Render candidate pages side by side at desktop resolution and assess fidelity to the target
  • Evaluate visual similarity, layout accuracy, implementation quality, and responsive behavior
  • Identify, rank, and describe significant defects; flag ties, ambiguities, and technically broken evaluation items
  • Inspect HTML, CSS, DOM structure, computed styles, the cascade, network activity, and assets using browser developer tools
  • Evaluate semantic markup, flexbox, CSS Grid, media queries, float- or table-based layouts, and accessibility-related implementation quality
  • Perform pixel-level analysis of box-model behavior, typography, colors, borders, backgrounds, images, stacking, overflow, clipping, and positioning
  • Run provided webpages locally using terminal-based development workflows
  • Write structured, technically actionable rationales for preference decisions
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently and contribute human preference data to improve AI-generated frontend code

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional frontend or full-stack web development experience
  • Strong proficiency with HTML and CSS
  • Deep understanding of semantic markup, flexbox, CSS Grid, media queries, and responsive design
  • Ability to read and reason about legacy float- and table-based layouts
  • Strong working knowledge of browser developer tools, including element inspection, computed styles, the box model, and network inspection
  • Sufficient JavaScript knowledge to understand scripts and DOM behavior
  • Comfortable using a terminal to run and inspect local web projects
  • Strong ability to identify visual differences at a detailed, pixel-level standard
  • Excellent written English and ability to justify technical evaluation decisions precisely
  • Desktop or laptop capable of displaying a browser window at 1920px width or greater
  • Administrator rights on the machine used for project work
  • Ability to install and run a local development or static-server environment
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
  • Experience translating Figma, PSD, or comparable designs into production frontend code is highly valued
  • Prior code review, technical assessment, RLHF, preference evaluation, or AI model evaluation experience is advantageous
  • Familiarity with WCAG, ARIA, accessibility testing, web scraping, or DOM parsing is beneficial
  • Experience with common failure patterns in LLM-generated frontend code is highly valued

Benefits:

  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Fully remote work
  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
