Job Description
Genetic Counselor Assistant supporting clients ordering Invitae genetic tests at Labcorp. Reviewing clinical appropriateness, handling inquiries, and gathering patient information remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the lab Genetic Counselor team to support clients that order testing performed at Invitae
- Respond to telephone and email inquiries from Invitae/Labcorp clients, health care providers, and patients; 75% of the time is spent on the phone
- Review orders for clinical appropriateness and perform outreach as necessary
- Contact clients to obtain pertinent clinical information and communicate with clients throughout the testing process
- Participate in or take leadership of particular operations and development projects as required
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a biological life science
- Familiarity with genetic concepts
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent ability to listen and respond effectively
- Strong flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and work cooperatively and effectively to set goals, resolve problems and make recommendations
- Preferred: 1 or more years experience working as a Genetic Counselor Assistant
- Preferred: 1 or more years experience working in a clinical genetics testing laboratory with next-generation sequencing
- Preferred: 1 or more years customer service experience
- Preferred: 1 or more years experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
