Job Description

Remote Genetic Counselor providing telehealth genetic counseling to Veterans and families through Ansible’s VA genomic medicine program. Reviewing risks, ordering tests, and communicating results.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent genetic counseling services to Veterans and families via telehealth
  • Review medical records and perform hereditary risk assessments
  • Obtain personal, medical, environmental, and family histories
  • Educate patients on inheritance patterns, recurrence risks, screening options, and disease prevention
  • Recommend and order appropriate genetic testing
  • Interpret and communicate genetic test results
  • Document all clinical activities in the electronic medical record
  • Collaborate with providers, colleagues, and laboratories
  • Develop educational materials and support genetic counseling program initiatives
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and meetings
  • Work generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible as a Genetic Counselor through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
  • Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • No history of suspended, revoked, restricted, or surrendered professional licenses
  • Active AHA BLS certification
  • NPI report printout
  • Active DEA license
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
  • Must have lived continuously in the United States for three years prior to appointment at a federal facility
