Job Description
Remote Genetic Counselor providing telehealth genetic counseling to Veterans and families through Ansible’s VA genomic medicine program. Reviewing risks, ordering tests, and communicating results.
Responsibilities:
- Provide independent genetic counseling services to Veterans and families via telehealth
- Review medical records and perform hereditary risk assessments
- Obtain personal, medical, environmental, and family histories
- Educate patients on inheritance patterns, recurrence risks, screening options, and disease prevention
- Recommend and order appropriate genetic testing
- Interpret and communicate genetic test results
- Document all clinical activities in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with providers, colleagues, and laboratories
- Develop educational materials and support genetic counseling program initiatives
- Participate in quality improvement activities and meetings
- Work generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible as a Genetic Counselor through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- No history of suspended, revoked, restricted, or surrendered professional licenses
- Active AHA BLS certification
- NPI report printout
- Active DEA license
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
- Must have lived continuously in the United States for three years prior to appointment at a federal facility
