Job Description
Remote HIM specialist maintaining patient-record integrity for Intermountain Health. Resolving duplicate records, overlays, and sensitive health-information errors.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the System Data Integrity Manager with daily input from the Data Integrity Team Lead
- Support the integrity of the Legal Health Record and Master Patient Index
- Analyze complex error-correction scenarios, including duplicate record resolution and overlay resolution
- Complete daily work queues, time-sensitive error queues, and sensitive patient error corrections accurately and promptly
- Use multiple patient identification and other Intermountain systems
- Interact with Revenue Cycle, Patient Access, Technical teams, and external partners to report and resolve errors
- Maintain accurate statistics and meet quality and productivity standards
- Comply with laws and regulations governing Protected Health Information
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and situations and apply appropriate critical thinking solutions
- Proficiency in advanced functions of multiple patient identification and other systems used by Intermountain
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing Protected Health Information
- Skills in analytical work, Epic EHR, Microsoft Suite, identity management, Health Information Management, and technical Epic EHR identity
- Preferred: Two-year Associate or four-year Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: RHIA or RHIT credential, or current enrollment in a CAHIIM-accredited program
- Preferred: Epic Electronic Health Record system experience
- Participation in professional Health Information and Information Technology groups and continuing education activities
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Ability to perform frequent computer, phone, and cable setup and use
