Job Description
Industrial Hygienist / Process Safety Engineer red-teaming frontier AI models on chemical safety and process hazards. Writing prompts, evaluating responses, and documenting technically sound reference answers.
Responsibilities:
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in industrial hygiene, chemistry, and chemical safety, labelled as benign, dual-use, or adversarial
- Evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard
- Judge whether each response was handled correctly
- Write reference answers explaining what a correct response looks like and the technical reasoning behind it
- Red-team frontier AI models for misuse potential in technical requests
- Produce written rationales that non-specialists can follow
- Read and write about misuse scenarios in the field for sustained periods
Requirements:
- Relevant experience assessing real exposures and real process hazards, and signing off on controls
- Examples of relevant backgrounds include certified industrial hygiene, process hazard analysis (HAZOP, LOPA, what-if studies, management of change), toxic release and dispersion modelling (consequence analysis, AEGL/ERPG criteria, facility siting), ventilation, containment and PPE programme design for chemical hazards, and regulatory compliance (PSM, Seveso, COMAH, OSHA or national equivalents)
- Ability to distinguish routine professional questions from potentially dangerous misuse-oriented requests
- Strong writing ability; every judgment must include a written rationale understandable to a non-specialist
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal
