Job Description

Lead civil engineer designing utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects for Ulteig, an essential-infrastructure engineering consultancy. Coordinating multidisciplinary teams, clients, and project delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage civil engineering design projects for utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects
  • Coordinate with clients and internal civil, structural, and electrical design teams
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers
  • Review designs for quality and support challenging problem solving
  • Drive engineering standards across the department
  • Lead team and department initiatives for continuous improvement of tools and processes
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports
  • Recommend improvements to development criteria and design features
  • Plan and accomplish project goals using experience and judgment
  • Review civil design computations for accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare reports and correspondence on assigned project direction and progress
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management
  • Apply value engineering throughout development, design, and construction
  • Collaborate with business and engineering staff across markets and technical disciplines
  • Work with clients to understand technical needs and identify feasible solutions
  • Support marketing, sales, and business development activities
  • Demonstrate creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and design ownership

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required
  • Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration required
  • NCEES Council Record preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10+ years of civil engineering experience required
  • At least 5+ years of experience in design and development of utility-scale solar preferred
  • Proficient at large-scale solar grading design and earthwork calculations required
  • Experience performing detailed design of solar facilities with complex topographic, environmental, and non-participating infrastructure constraints highly desired
  • Stormwater management and permitting experience highly desired
  • Experience developing Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred
  • Proven experience in Microsoft software applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US
