Job Description
Senior Forensic Structural Engineer investigating structural failures, storm damage, and building collapses for EFI Global. Producing expert analyses and reports for commercial, residential, and industrial clients.
Responsibilities:
- Assign engineers to client losses in the assigned area and manage quality control
- Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings
- Conduct investigations to determine and document the scope of damage
- Provide guidance and leadership on complex losses
- Implement engineering strategies within the assigned engineering team
- Collaborate with investigators to produce detailed cause-and-origin reports
- Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time-and-expense basis
- Collaborate with EFI's national forensic expert team on projects
- Perform other assigned duties
- Support organizational quality programs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required in the resident state
- Eight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required
- Experience in forensic engineering, structural damage assessment, and failure analysis
- Experience determining causes of structural failure
- Experience with storm and roof damage assessments
- Experience with building envelope investigations
- Experience evaluating structural collapses
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods
- Ability to kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, and work overhead
- Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds
- Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day
- Ability to travel as required
