Job Description
Legal Expert comparing AI-generated legal reasoning for Mercor’s frontier-model training projects. Providing case-law analysis and written feedback to improve AI behavior.
Responsibilities:
- Compare two AI-generated responses to the same prompt and determine which is better
- Review provided input files and each model’s reasoning/thought process
- Explain why one output outperforms the other, citing legal accuracy, reasoning soundness, and client-readiness
- Provide written feedback to the research team to improve model behavior
- Participate in onboarding and specialty calibration sessions
- Work on projects training and enhancing AI systems
Requirements:
- J.D., LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent law degree — or equivalent professional legal experience
- 2+ years of professional experience practicing or researching law
- Experience may include law firm, in-house, government, or judiciary work
- Strong experience in legal research and legal writing, including case-law analysis
- Excellent written communication
- High attention to detail
- Must be an independent contractor
- Mercor is unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time
