Job Description

Cengage sales consultant expanding K-12 digital education solutions across New York. Presenting supplemental and library resources to schools, districts, educators, and administrators.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with prospective customers to explore and present digital product solutions in the K-12 market
  • Travel throughout the New York territory to visit current and prospective customers
  • Conduct in-person sales consultations with faculty, curriculum directors, and administrators
  • Develop and implement plans to achieve goals
  • Achieve and exceed sales revenue goals within assigned sales and operational expense budgets
  • Partner with senior decision-makers within assigned districts to present Cengage solutions, including supplemental and library resources
  • Seek new solution opportunities and develop market share in the sales territory
  • Participate in territory networking opportunities, conferences, group presentations, and industry functions
  • Build targeted lead-generation strategies and prioritize territory activity between new business development and existing account growth
  • Align product offerings with state or district learning objectives
  • Discuss instructional strategies and educational trends with educators and administrators

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of curriculum needs for K-12 teachers and librarians
  • Proven record of consistent sales and goal achievement performance
  • Ability to diagnose customer needs before pitching solutions
  • Ability to propose personalized solutions based on district or classroom challenges
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, business partners, colleagues, and management
  • Ability to articulate how solutions complement core curriculum and improve outcomes
  • Ability to build targeted lead-generation strategies
  • Ability to balance new business development with existing account growth
  • Ability to align product offerings with state or district learning objectives
  • Comfort discussing instructional strategies and educational trends with educators and administrators
  • Ability to maintain a home office and hours aligned with school schedules
  • Preferred: proven track record selling into K-12 schools or districts
  • Preferred: prior experience as an educator, librarian, instructional coach, or in curriculum development
  • Technology proficiency and ability to discuss online access and classroom technology impact
  • Skill in constructing a strong sales pipeline, validating leads, and planning territory activity
  • Aptitude for operating in a changing environment with innovative and customized solutions

Benefits:

  • Variable Sales incentive compensation program
  • Target variable compensation of $60,000 annually (actual incentive earnings may vary)
