Job Description

Managing Director leading fundraising, donor relations, and revenue strategy for Climate Power’s climate communications organization. Building development teams and advancing clean energy and climate advocacy narratives.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a principal driver of fundraising and development success for Climate Power
  • Develop and implement stewardship programs and build major donor relationships
  • Plan consistent donor outreach, meetings, and events as needed
  • Develop short- and long-term strategies to increase revenue and donor engagement
  • Provide thought leadership for growth, innovation, donor diversity, and diversification of gifts
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team and Core Leadership Team on development, messaging, marketing, events, branding, and positioning
  • Build and manage an internal team as appropriate; mentor and develop staff; establish and monitor performance and development goals
  • Lead fundraising strategy with internal stakeholders and contractors
  • Oversee donor materials, including proposals and grant reports; write and edit strategic proposals
  • Lead fundraising and revenue projections and drive performance against benchmarks
  • Work with the finance team to update revenue projections and budget planning
  • Represent Climate Power at speaking engagements, fundraising events, and in donor communications
  • Manage the Development team budget
  • Support Climate Power’s mission of elevating climate and clean energy solutions in political conversations and shifting the national political narrative

Requirements:

  • 10 years of relevant prior work experience in direct fundraising and development in non-profit or political organizations
  • 5 years of people and/or project management experience
  • Expertise in leading departments and diverse teams and managing complex projects
  • Experience working with senior-level executives and Board Members
  • Clear understanding of the political landscape, especially as relating to climate justice
  • Proven track record of raising over $10M annually
  • Strong organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complex issues, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to stay up to date on best practices and trends relative to the work and projects in their purview
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 9 am-6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as work dictates
  • Must be able to work anywhere in the United States
  • Occasional travel required, typically 3-4 times per year
