Job Description
Development Coordinator managing donor databases, fundraising, and grants for Global Sanctuary for Elephants, a US nonprofit protecting and rescuing elephants worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the donor database, including data maintenance, gift processing, acknowledgments, reporting, solicitations, list creation and maintenance, and communication mailings
- Reconcile donor database deposits against QuickBooks reports with the accounting team
- Generate reports for mailings, donations, bank deposits, board reports, annual audits, and 990 preparations
- Stay knowledgeable about fundraising software changes and features through investigation, training, and documentation review
- Assist with online store operations, including product management, order processing, and design support
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for data integrity, analysis, reporting, compliance, and system best practices
- Assist the Development Director with online fundraising events and fundraising administration
- Respond to donor, grantmaker, and corporate sponsor inquiries by email and telephone
- Implement donor stewardship strategies and develop relationships with prospective donors
- Support fundraising events, including mailings, auction logistics, donation tracking, and shipping auction packages
- Assist in drafting and designing fundraising email communications and campaigns
- Maintain a cloud-based document management system and provide general donor services administration
- Research private foundation and corporate sponsorship, giving, and grant programs
- Draft grant proposals for smaller-scale funding opportunities
- Help develop grant proposal strategies and maintain a grant deadline calendar
- Prepare and monitor grant budgets and maintain grant payment and communication records
- Create monthly grant activity reports and optimize grant administration processes
- Utilize Foundation Directory Online and Instrumentl
- Cultivate foundation and corporate contacts
- Schedule meetings and presentations with potential funders
- Submit grant proposals and supporting materials
- Assist with proposal documentation and fulfill grant reporting requirements
- Perform other community relations and development activities as needed
Requirements:
- 2-3 years in a non-profit setting — animal welfare field knowledge or experience a plus
- 2-3 years of operations or non-profit development experience in an analytical or administrative capacity
- Experience with gift entry and financial reporting in donor database systems like Neon
- Strong attention to detail, copyediting and organizational skills, and data management/reconciliation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, monday.com, and cloud-based application processes such as Google Docs, Dropbox, etc.
- Experience with writing/research; grant writing a plus
- Ability to work under deadlines and juggle multiple projects
- Ability to collaborate with staff and board, and self-manage time while working remotely
- Some availability to work between 8:00 am–5:00 pm Eastern time Monday-Friday
- Open to candidates located anywhere in the United States
