Job Description
Oil and Gas Manager at CATF driving methane reduction policies in the fossil fuel sector. Leading engagements with governments and advocating for effective methane mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support engagements with government entities as part of the Fossil Fuel Regulatory Programme to develop and advocate for policies that promote methane reduction in the oil and gas sector.
- Support efforts to engage with regulators to develop and implement strong methane mitigation policies.
- Conduct policy research and analysis to support the development of new or updated methane policies.
- Assess the policy and political efficacy of existing or new policy proposals developed externally.
- Undertake and support analysis related to methane policies and their implementation requirements.
- Develop and execute strategies relating to education about relevant policy concepts and advocacy to achieve policy outcomes.
- Support and strengthen existing relationships with National and Subnational government agencies and other key stakeholders.
Requirements:
- BSc/BA is required; MSc/MA or other advanced degree is preferred
- 6+ years of relevant professional work experience in/with the fossil fuels industry and/or regulatory agency for the fossil fuel sector
- 6+ years of experience in methane, greenhouse gas, energy or environmental research, including policy advocacy, development, and/or implementation.
- Knowledge of international energy and climate policies, with expertise in a specific region or country.
- Experience working with or engaging international institutions.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong negotiation skills
- Able to work independently with minimal oversight
- Strong technical writing capabilities
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Avid networker skilled at building trust with a wide range of people
- Oral and written English mastery (another language a plus).
