Job Description

Retirement onboarding manager leading plan implementation, compliance review, and client coordination for Strongpoint Partners’ tech-enabled retirement services platform. Coaching specialists and improving scalable onboarding operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Retirement Onboarding Specialists, including hiring, training, goal setting, and performance management
  • Assign and balance onboarding caseloads based on plan complexity, team capacity, and client deadlines
  • Serve as escalation point for complex plan provisions, challenging conversions, and client or partner concerns
  • Oversee onboarding for all new retirement plan clients and ensure milestones and deadlines are met
  • Review plan document mapping, amendments, restatements, Summary Plan Descriptions, and related materials for accuracy and compliance
  • Own onboarding systems, status reporting, and documentation, providing leadership visibility into pipeline, timelines, and team performance
  • Lead plan provision and onboarding calls for complex or high-priority clients
  • Advise clients and advisors on plan design options and next steps
  • Guide the team on plan design improvements and solutions for unsupported recordkeeper provisions
  • Build and maintain onboarding procedures, checklists, and quality control practices
  • Coordinate with recordkeepers, advisors, and internal teams to resolve recurring issues
  • Improve processes, workflows, and technology as the business grows
  • Monitor ERISA, IRS, and legislative changes and translate updates into team guidance and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience working with retirement plan documents, qualified retirement plans, or TPA operations
  • 2+ years of experience supervising, managing, or leading a team
  • Expert understanding of ERISA and IRS regulations governing qualified retirement plans
  • Extensive experience reviewing, interpreting, and drafting retirement plan documents
  • Deep understanding of 401(k) plan provisions and plan design concepts
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines across a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex retirement plan concepts to clients, advisors, and leadership
  • Strong coaching skills and ability to provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Sound judgment, proactive and solutions-oriented approach, and strong sense of ownership
  • Experience building or scaling an onboarding, conversion, or implementation team preferred
  • Experience with plan amendments, restatements, SPDs, and other compliance documents preferred
  • Experience with 401(k) plan administration, including compliance testing and plan operations preferred
  • Familiarity with retirement plan document and administration systems, workflow or project management tools preferred
