Job Description

Patient Support Nurse guiding pharmaceutical patients through medication education, insurance access, and therapy adherence. Delivering telephonic clinical support for Valeris, a life sciences commercialization partner.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate successful patient journeys to and while on therapy through care coordination, education, and psychosocial support
  • Provide medication and disease-state education to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers
  • Establish relationships, develop trust, and maintain rapport in a 100% telephonic setting
  • Counsel patients on product use, dosing, administration, devices, insurance coverage, and reimbursement challenges
  • Evaluate and contribute to development of program resources
  • Coordinate resources to share and secure financial options for patients with financial need
  • Follow program guidelines and escalate complex cases according to policy and procedures
  • Receive and make calls regarding disease states, products, patient needs, insurance coverage, and financial support
  • Maintain and update patient account records in a digital CRM
  • Support healthcare provider offices with prescription questions and challenges
  • Report and document adverse events and product or safety complaints according to program SOPs
  • Participate in customer meetings, training sessions, orientation meetings, and competency testing
  • Advocate for patients and healthcare providers regarding insurance coverage, medical billing, reimbursement, and access to complex pharmaceuticals
  • Participate in a shared after-hours on-call nurse service
  • Complete corporate policy and procedure training deadlines
  • Follow SOPs consistently
  • Perform additional assigned tasks or projects

Requirements:

  • AD or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN, RN)
  • Valid nursing license in one or more states
  • Four or more years of nursing experience
  • Two or more years of nephrology experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical insurance terminology and reimbursement, healthcare billing, physician offices, health insurance processing, or related reimbursement experience a plus
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication; may be asked to submit a written test sample
  • Proficient with Microsoft products
  • Experience and comfort with a digital CRM required
  • Attention to detail and follow-through in communication with patients and providers
  • Empathetic listening skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and pivot with ease
  • Strong customer service experience and skills
  • Must be eligible to obtain licensure in all 50 states
  • Prefer candidates able to type at least 35 words per minute with 97% accuracy
  • Flexibility to travel as needed preferred
  • Successful completion of a background check and, depending on the position, a drug screen required as a condition of employment
  • Shift is 10AM–7PM EST, Monday through Friday
