Job Description
Platform Solution Architect leading AWS and Azure digital service platforms at Kainos. Guiding agile teams, DevOps adoption, cloud delivery, and responsible AI implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead multi-skilled agile teams to design and deliver high-quality public cloud solutions
- Work with customer architects and colleagues to design, automate, build, and support modern digital service platforms
- Estimate effort and advise on the impact of technical decisions and technology choices
- Use AI tooling responsibly throughout the delivery lifecycle to increase automation, accelerate delivery, and improve outcomes
- Embed effective AI-Augmented practices into ways of working
- Coach teams and senior engineers on AI-Augmented practices
- Contribute to the evolution of Kainos's AI delivery capability
- Lead engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security colleagues in designing solutions meeting non-functional requirements
- Champion new technologies and tools within and outside Kainos
- Contribute to technology strategy and help identify, qualify, and win new opportunities
- Provide technical leadership across projects and make necessary technical decisions
- Offer opinions and critique to improve solution quality
- Support colleagues and balance individual and team needs
- Manage, coach, and develop senior staff, including employee performance and career development
- Explore, test, and apply AI approaches while maintaining accountability for quality, governance, and risk
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Excellent prioritisation and time management skills
- Proven team leadership skills across teams and fostering a DevOps culture
- Experience managing, coaching and developing senior team members and the wider community
- Personal ownership of delivering modern digital service platforms in production environments
- Ability to prioritise non-functional concerns and incorporate them into platform design
- Ability to make effective decisions in fast-moving delivery environments and own outcomes
- Significant expertise using multiple public cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure
- Expertise in whole-solution architecture concepts
- Expertise in the latest Continuous Delivery techniques
- Experience with container orchestration platforms including Kubernetes
- Experience applying cloud-native tooling and approaches
- Experience proactively developing business within an account
- Accountability for technology delivery challenges of all sizes
- Experience developing and contributing to business cases promoting public cloud adoption
- Demonstrable experience successfully applying AI to improve outcomes and solve complex business or delivery challenges
- Third level (or equivalent) qualification in a related discipline is desirable
- Public cloud provider certification (AWS/Azure) is desirable
- Certification with another respected professional body such as CNCF is desirable
- Automation tooling experience and proficiency in one of PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, or Groovy is desirable
- Interest in emerging software delivery and platform engineering trends is desirable
